Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivas Varma addressing the media in Bhimavaram, West Godavari district on Monday. | Photo Credit: HANDOUT Union Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivas Varma announced on Monday that tenders for expanding the 45-kilometre-long National Highway-165 from Akiveedu to Digamarru in West Godavari district will be invited in February. Speaking to the media, Mr. Varma said: “All hurdles have been cleared for the expansion of NH-165. Farmers have given their consent and tenders will be invited in February.” At least 172 hectares of land is likely to be acquired for the highway project which goes through six mandals in the West Godavari district. On the implementation of the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM-G), formerly known as National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), Mr. Varma said that the new 60-day annual work holiday policy would help in the harvesting of crops during the respective season.
