The Uppal police solved a daytime house burglary within 24 hours of the offence and arrested the accused, recovering gold and silver ornaments worth ₹14.35 lakh.

The burglary took place on February 5 between 6 a.m. and 11.30 a.m. at Vasavi Nagar in Ramanthapur, said an officer from the Uppal police.

The accused was identified as Thalluri Raghavender alias Srinivas Goud alias Dakkali Ramesh alias Srinivas, 36, a resident of Vasavi Nagar, Ramanthapur. Police said he was arrested at his residence around 6 a.m. on February 6.

According to the police, the accused entered the house of Mallamma at Vasavi Nagar during the daytime when it was locked, broke open an almirah and decamped with about 85 grams of gold ornaments and 60 tolas of silver articles. A case was registered on the same day based on a complaint lodged by the victim.

During interrogation, the police found that the accused targeted locked houses during daytime, forcing open doors and cupboards using an iron rod. He was previously involved in house burglary cases reported from Shadnagar, Shadabad, Narsingi and Amberpet, and had served time in jail, the police said.
