Hotels, restaurants and roadside eateries across Erode district have begun to feel the impact of the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders, forcing many establishments to scale down their menus and reduce cooking hours. Hoteliers said the cylinders currently available with them would last only for the next two to four days, prompting them to take steps to conserve the available gas. As part of these measures, several eateries have reduced the number of dishes prepared each day. Variety rice items, which were earlier available in four or five options in many hotels, have now been reduced to two. Likewise, tea stalls and small eateries have also cut down the number of snacks prepared daily.
