History-sheeter held for sexually harassing woman in Besant Nagar

The Shastri Nagar police have arrested a history-sheeter for allegedly sexually harassing a 38-year-old woman in Besant Nagar.

Police said the accused, Prashanth, had been repeatedly harassing the woman who lives in the same neighbourhood. Despite being confronted by her on several occasions, he continued his behaviour.

On Monday night, when the woman was alone at home, Prashanth allegedly came to her house in an inebriated condition, shouted obscene words and sexually harassed her before escaping. Following a complaint lodged by the victim, Shastri Nagar police registered a case under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Harassment of Women Act and arrested the accused Prashanth.
