The State Highways Department will consider the possibility of constructing a bridge or an any other structure to avoid accidents on the western bypass at Arivoli Nagar junction. An official of the department said speed-breakers were put in place and barricades were placed at the junction on Friday following an accident in which a 22-year-old college student died. “Vehicles were speeding at the junction and it was planned to construct speed-breakers there. But, there was an accident on Friday morning. The speed-breakers are put in place now. We will complete the ongoing phase one of the bypass road work and study the possibility of a bridge. Necessary action will be taken to avoid accidents at the junction,” the official said. The public had staged a protest on Friday demanding construction of a bridge at the junction.
