The special squads of the health wing under Kozhikode Corporation on Wednesday (February 11, 2026) conducted flash inspections in several spa centres in the city as part of the attempts to identify unlicensed ventures. Officials said the search was carried out following reports that some unlicensed units were having untrained staff to attract customers with cross massage service and other unlawful activities. However, several units were found closed on Wednesday, reportedly after noticing the flash checking drive. At the same time, many licensed units cooperated with the procedures and called for stern action against illegal units. Police sources said their squads would soon swing into action to check suspected illegal activities in massage centres. As part of intensified surveillance, details of licensed units would be gathered soon, they said.
