A head constable died in an accident in Namakkal on Wednesday (April 8, 2026). The deceased, T. Praveen (39), a resident of Kothamangalam near Jedarpalayam, was a head constable attached to the Nallur police station. On Wednesday around 2 p.m., he was headed to Paramathi Velur on his two-wheeler to join his election flying squad duty. As he reached the government school at Paramathi, he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tamarind tree on the roadside. In the accident, he sustained grievous injuries and died on the way to the hospital. The Paramathi police registered a case and are investigating further.
