Kumaraswamy held discussions with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw regarding demands for various railway projects in the Bengaluru–Mandya–Mysuru rail corridor. Mr. Kumaraswamy, who met the Railway Minister at his office in Parliament House in New Delhi on Thursday, submitted several long-pending demands from the public on railway-related services in the region, according to a statement issued by his office. The memorandum requested halts for the train plying between Bengaluru–Mangaluru–Murudeshwar at Maddur and Mandya stations in Mandya district. “The Railway Minister responded positively and assured prompt action,” the statement said. The minister also requested the upgradation and modernisation of Maddur Railway Station, citing increasing passenger traffic. Overbridge at V.C. Farm Mr. Kumaraswamy brought up the prolonged traffic disruptions and safety concerns of the farmers and commuters on the Mandya–Melukote road due to frequent train movement and sought an overbridge at V.C. Farm gate. “The absence of an overbridge has adversely affected daily travel and transport of agricultural produce,” Mr. Kumaraswamy said while seeking the construction of an overbridge at this location. Mr. Kumaraswamy, who also represents Mandya in the Lok Sabha, referred to the heavy traffic movement from Mandya towards Thubinakere, Pandavapura, K.R.S., K.R. Pet, and Madikeri that causes congestion at the existing level crossing at Dodda Byadarahalli and said the pile-up of traffic causes frequent delays. Hence, he sought remedial action through the construction of an overbridge. He also sought the upgradation of level crossing No. 60 near Hanakere village in Maddur taluk, the construction of a railway underpass near Nodekoppalu village in Mandya district to benefit villagers, particularly farmers and schoolchildren, and the construction of a railway overbridge on level crossing No. 44 between Ramanagara and Channapatna. Goods Yard at Pandavapura Mr. Kumaraswamy has sought a Goods Yard at Pandavapura, which he said serves as a commercial hub for K.R. Pet, Nagamangala, and Srirangapatna taluks. Establishing a goods yard at Pandavapura would reduce transportation costs for farmers and traders while boosting regional economic activity, he said. Among the other demands placed before the Railway Minister was the need for an express train operating between Bengaluru and Mysuru to halt at Channapatna, increasing the number of coaches in Chamundi Express to enhance passenger capacity. He also sought a new train service connecting Mumbai and Bengaluru via Mangaluru and Hassan. Hejja–Chamarajanagar railway line Mr. Kumaraswamy appealed for sanctioning the Hejjala–Chamarajanagar railway line, which would pass through Kanakapur, Malavalli, Kollegala, and Yelandur, stating it would significantly boost economic activities in the region. In the statement, Mr. Kumaraswamy said that the Railway Minister responded positively to all demands and assured swift action.
