Justice Manoj Jain directed that the accused Ashish Bachchas be released on furnishing a personal bond of ₹25,000 with “one surety of a like amount, subject to the satisfaction of the trial court, Chief Judicial Magistrate, or duty magistrate”. The order was passed on February 19. The accused was arrested at the spot on August 10 last year after his vehicle allegedly ran over two persons around 6.30 a.m. near Gate No. 3 of Talkatora Stadium. A chargesheet has been filed and the matter is listed for consideration on charges on April 8. The police opposed the bail plea, citing the recovery of multiple contraband substances. While the forensic science laboratory report on the alleged lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) is awaited, the prosecution acknowledged that the remaining quantities fall within the small or intermediate category.
