Hailing the directive of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on the removal of Prosopis juliflora (karuvelam trees) as a landmark order, MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Wednesday said he would start a movement across Tamil Nadu after the Assembly election and ensure that the trees were removed. Addressing the media in Madurai, the MDMK leader said that the court, on realising the gravity of the situation with regard to the presence of karuvelam trees, and how they affect the water table and cause other problems, had given a comprehensive order.
