The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has acquitted six persons who were sentenced to life imprisonment by a trial court in Tiruchi in connection with the murder of former president of Madakudi panchayat C. Sekar in 2015. The court was hearing a criminal appeal filed by Johnson Kumar, Natarajan, Kanagaraj, Harikrishnan, Senthil and Ilayaraja, challenging the sentence awarded to them by the Second Additional District and Sessions Court in Tiruchi in 2023.
