T. Harish Rao | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGENTS Former Minister and BRS MLA T. Harish Rao criticised the Telangana Education Commission constituted by the State government, alleging that it lacks qualified educationists and subject experts capable of framing a new education policy. Reacting on social media platform X to the report submitted by the Commission, Mr. Harish Rao demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy clarify how a committee without experienced academicians could recommend sweeping reforms in the State’s education system. “Where are the real educationists in your Education Commission?” he asked, questioning whether even a single member in the panel possessed hands-on experience in teaching school, college or university-level students. He pointed out that except for two professors from journalism and mass communication backgrounds, the Commission allegedly has no member with a PhD in Education, experience in school syllabus design, or expertise in core science subjects. Mr. Harish Rao further noted that the Commission Chairman is a retired IAS officer with an engineering background. “Running offices is different from teaching students. Administrative experience does not automatically translate into expertise in child psychology or pedagogy,” he remarked. Alleging that the government was experimenting with the future of lakhs of students, the BRS leader said framing a new education policy without involving experienced teachers, child psychologists and subject experts reflected a lack of seriousness. “If the committee itself is so ‘great,’ one can imagine how ‘great’ its report would be,” he said sarcastically. He demanded that the government immediately halt decisions that could ‘derail’ Telangana’s education system and entrust the responsibility of drafting policy reforms to qualified and experienced academicians.
