Senior Congress leader T. Jagga Reddy ridiculed BRS MLA Harish Rao’s PowerPoint presentation stating that the BRS was claiming as if Telangana started getting drinking water only after BRS came to power.

Speaking to reporters, he reminded that Congress governments had laid the foundation for Hyderabad’s drinking water needs by constructing the Manjeera and Singur projects. “When Manjeera water reached Hyderabad, K. Chandrashekhar Rao was already living in the city, and Mr. Harish Rao was just a child. They grew up drinking water supplied by Congress-built projects,” he said.

Accusing the BRS of trying to revive regional sentiments for political convenience, Mr. Jagga Reddy said the party was once again raising the ‘Andhra people’ issue despite remaining silent on the matter during its ten-year rule. He reminded that Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao governed the State for a decade after making allegations of water theft, but failed to address those issues after becoming the CM.

Highlighting unfinished irrigation works, Mr. Jagga Reddy said Congress had completed nearly 90% of the Kalwakurthy, Nettampadu and Bhima projects, but the BRS government ignored appeals to complete the remaining works. He also recalled the suspension of Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from the Assembly for questioning pending irrigation projects.

Defending Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, he said there was nothing wrong with him speaking to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Did not Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao have lunch with then CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy, he asked and termed such arguments silly. He also demanded that videos of Mr. Chandrashekhar Rao’s past Assembly speeches, including remarks on smaller States, be made public.

Defending Mr. Revanth Reddy’s outbursts, he said the CM responded strongly only after facing repeated verbal attacks from BRS leaders and asserted that such reactions were provoked.
