Government Advisor for Minority Affairs and former Legislative Council Chairman M. A. Shariff on Monday said the Haj Committee had no hidden agenda and was constituted with individuals possessing genuine experience and respect for the pilgrimage. He dismissed allegations made by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) through its mouthpiece Sakshi as baseless and politically motivated. Addressing the media at the TDP central office near Mangalagiri, Mr. Shariff said the TDP-led government had formed the Haj Committee to serve pilgrims with dignity and was discharging its responsibilities sincerely. He noted that a petition had been filed in the High Court raising certain technical issues related to an earlier government order, G.O. 38, concerning the constitution of the committee.
