Habitual offender arrested in Nandyal, gold and cash seized

A 25-year-old man wanted in a series of burglaries reported from the Rayalaseema districts was arrested on Friday and recovered gold ornaments weighing 98 grams, about 400 grams of silver items and ₹54,500 in cash.

The accused, identified as Shaik Babavali of YSR Nagar in Nandyal, was apprehended during a routine vehicle check near Nagulakatta on Nandamuri Nagar Road in the town.

Police said Babavali tried to escape on a motorcycle with no number plate, which raised suspicion about his possible involvement in bike thefts.

Superintendent of Police Sunil Shoran said Babavali had been involved in multiple theft and burglary cases since 2025. The offences were reported from Nandyal, Bandi Atmakur, Revanur, Sanjamala, Gadivemula, Bethamcherla and Avuku police station limits, and other parts of Rayalaseema.
