The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) authorities held a meeting to review the Heat Wave Action Plan on Wednesday, to beat the summer heat. As part of the measures, the GVMC will set up 198 water kiosks (Chalivendrams) and 52 green shelters for commuters across the city’s 10 zones. The corporation has also decided to revise the timings of sanitation workers. Under the revised timings, workers will attend duties from 5.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Chief Medical Officer, E.N.V.Naresh Kumar, project director (UCD) B.V. Ramana, Water Supply supervising engineer Yedukondalu and other officials attended the meeting.
