Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu State Minorities Commission Rev. Father C. Joe Arun handed over degree certificates to the graduands during the Graduation Day ceremony of The American College held here on Saturday.

Addressing the students, he emphasised the importance of giving back to society. He urged the graduands to use their knowledge and skills to uplift those who have been denied their rights and opportunities.

While education provides students with knowledge, opportunities, and values, it also places upon them a responsibility to give back to the institution and to society, he said and advised the graduands to remain socially responsible, ethically grounded, and committed to service in all their future endeavours.

Principal and Secretary of The American College J. Paul Jayakar welcomed the gathering. The college has been a pillar of transformative education for more than a century and has shown exemplary commitment in shaping student’s minds, their ethical attitude and intellectual formation, he said.

Bishop-President Most Rev. Jeyasingh Prince Prabhakaran was present. A total of 2,582 undergraduate and postgraduate students were conferred their degrees at the event.
