Roads and Buildings (R&B) Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy on Monday said that the State government is working to bring the budget closer to people, even as it continues welfare and development programmes despite financial constraints.

Addressing a press conference here after a budget outreach programme at Annamayya district Collectorate here, the Minister stated that the initiative, launched at the direction of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, aims to explain budget allocations, priorities, and schemes directly to the public. With lakhs of crores being spent, people should have a clear understanding of how the money is used, he added.

He said schemes such as Deepam, NTR Bharosa, Stree Shakti, and Talliki Vandanam are being implemented to support weaker sections, empower women, and ensure social equity.

On the State’s finances, he alleged that earlier mismanagement during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) regime had left the exchequer under strain due to mounting debts. Despite this, the government is committed to fulfilling its promises and is working to mobilise resources, he said.

The Minister expressed hope that investments in the future would improve revenues and generate employment. He recalled that investment proposals worth ₹16 lakh crore were received at the CII summit in Visakhapatnam. Mr. Reddy said efforts are also on to expedite infrastructure works, including roads, and clear pending bills to restore contractor confidence.

Earlier, officials explained the budget size, sector-wise allocations, and district-level fund distribution to public representatives, students, and the people. District Collector Nishant Kumar and senior officials of all government departments were present.
