Employees of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department staged a protest in Theni on Tuesday, urging the Tamil Nadu government to fulfil their 18-point charter of demands. The protesters demanded that vacancies in various posts be filled. They said Panchayat Secretaries should be included in the pension scheme. They also pressed fulfilment of their other demands by the government. Following their protest, government offices wore a deserted look.
