The Andhra Pradesh government has accorded administrative sanction of ₹119.27 crore for the construction of a Telugu Cultural Centre at Neerukonda village in the Amaravati capital region, marking a significant step toward promoting the State’s linguistic and cultural heritage. Following the approval at the 59th meeting of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) on March 10, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, S. Suresh Kumar, issued the relevant G.O. (Rt. No. 317) on March 16, 2026. As per the order, the project would be executed under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode with the total sanctioned cost, inclusive of the GST and other provisions. The proposal had been submitted by the APCRDA Commissioner and subsequently cleared after due examination. The government also authorised the Managing Director of the Amaravati Growth and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (AGICL) to invite tenders and oversee the execution of the project. Authorities indicated that a dedicated centre for Telugu culture and research might also be developed as a part of the initiative, enhancing the project’s scope. The Telugu Cultural Centre is expected to emerge as a landmark institution in the capital region, aimed at preserving, promoting and showcasing the rich cultural legacy of the Telugu-speaking people.
