The State government is undertaking significant interventions in the land distribution sector, Revenue Minister K. Rajan said on Tuesday, highlighting the State’s focussed efforts to resolve long-pending issues related to land titles.

Speaking to he media here in connection with an adalat organised to address stayed land title deed cases in Thrissur taluk, the Minister said that more than 4.25 lakh title deeds have already been distributed across the State. He expressed confidence that the Revenue department would be able to distribute nearly five lakh pattayas within the tenure of the present government.

Mr. Rajan noted that 2,444 pattas had been distributed in Thrissur taluk alone over the past 10 years. He added that the upcoming pattaya mela would facilitate the distribution of more than 100 additional land titles in the hilly regions. The Minister said land sanctioned by the Union government in connection with hill-area pattayas would be prioritised for distribution.

The adalat addressed applications related to stayed pattayas as well as requests from beneficiaries who had received assignment orders but failed to remit the required amount within the stipulated time. In such cases, delays were condoned and pattayas were issued, the Minister explained.
