In a major relief to the residents of Tirumala, the State government has cleared the way for the construction of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) slabs for 541 houses in Balaji Nagar.

The issue was raised during the question hour in the State Legislative Assembly by Jana Sena Party (JSP) MLA Arani Srinivasulu, who highlighted the hardships faced by local residents who had lost properties due to land acquisition for the Tirumala master plan.

Responding to the concerns, the government said that an administrative sanction of ₹14 crore is under consideration to take up the works. Tenders will be floated following approval from the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board.

The housing project, initiated in 2010 during the tenure of former Tirupati MLA and Prajarajyam party chief K. Chiranjeevi, had remained incomplete, with only a few houses receiving RCC roofing, leaving the rest in precarious conditions.

With the government now expediting the process, the long-pending works are expected to be completed within 18 months. The project aims to provide safe and durable housing to families in the temple town.

Residents have welcomed the move, expressing hope that the delayed works will finally be completed within the stipulated timeline, improving their living condition.
