A government advocate was killed after being struck by a car while attempting to cross the road at Terkutheru near Melur here on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Siddharthan, 52, a resident of Srirangam in Tiruchi. He was serving as a government advocate in the Madurai High Court. Police said, Siddharthan was traveling from Madurai to Srirangam by car on Saturday. When he reached the flyover area at Terkutheru near Melur, he parked his vehicle by the roadside. He stepped out and crossed the road to witness a political rally on the other side of the road. After viewing the procession, Siddharthan attempted to cross back to his vehicle. At that moment, a car traveling from Madurai toward Tiruchi struck him. He sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. Keelavalavu police have registered a case and are currently investigating the incident.
