A day after the celestial wedding of Lord Rama with His consort Sita, the Pattabhishekam (coronation ceremony) of Lord Rama was organised on a grand note at Mithila Stadium in Telangana’s famous temple town of Bhadrachalam on Saturday (March 28).

Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla along with his wife Janaki Shukla and scores of devotees from various parts of the State witnessed the coronation ceremony held amid devotional fervour and grandeur.

Earlier, the utsav idols of the presiding deity of the historic Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple were brought to Mithila stadium in a ceremonial procession. The processional idol of Lord Rama was adorned with Padukalu, Rajadhandam, Rajamudrika, Swarna Kiritam, Khadgam and jewellery.

Amid recital of Vedic hymns, the coronation ceremony was organised in a festive atmosphere.

Later, the Governor inaugurated a ‘Giri Mart’ set up by the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Bhadrachalam, in the temple town. Bhadrachalam ITDA Project Officer, B. Rahul and others were present.

The mart will provide a platform for tribal farmers and members of tribal women self-help groups to sell a range of products, including forest-based items including honey, organic products and handicrafts, such as bamboo-based products of both utility and decorative value, ITDA sources said.

The initiative is aimed at augmenting the income of tribal people including farmers, women and artisans and boosting their economic empowerment.
