The Legal Coordination Committee for Government Doctors (LCC) has appealed to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to announce the fulfilment of long-pending pay demands of government doctors during the Assembly session beginning on January 20. In a statement, LCC president S. Perumal Pillai said the promise made to government doctors in 2019, including the implementation of four pending pay bands, had not yet been honoured despite assurances after the DMK came to power. The committee said around 19,000 government doctors were awaiting salary revisions that have been pending for over a decade. The LCC also urged the government to provide a government job to Divya Vivekanandan, the wife of Dr. Vivekanandan, who died while on COVID-19 duty, stating that her request for employment has been pending for over four years. The appeal comes in the backdrop of the State government launching the “Tell Your Dream” scheme.
