The Paramathi Velur constituency, which was won by the AIADMK in 2011 and 2021, is known for its jaggery units and agricultural activities. Located almost 24 km from Namakkal town, the constituency that was formed in 2008 covers Paramathi Velur taluk, a portion of Tiruchengode and Namakkal taluks, Vengarai, Pandamangalam, and Pothanur. Over 80% of people are involved in the cultivation of sugarcane, betel leaf, and banana among other crops. More than 100 jaggery manufacturing units are functioning in Paramathi Velur, Jedarpalayam, Solasiramani, and Pandamangalam.
