A flying squad team seized about 46 kg of gold jewellery, worth approximately ₹65 crore, belonging to a reputed jewellery store near Redhills. The consignment has been handed over to Income Tax Department officials for further investigation, said sources. With the announcement of election dates in Tamil Nadu and the Model Code of Conduct in force, flying squad teams have intensified surveillance to curb cash movement and distribution of gifts. As part of this, officials were conducting strict vehicle checks near the Nallur toll plaza in Redhills, under the Madhavaram Assembly constituency.
