An analysis of the 2025-26 admissions for the medical courses at Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences showed that there was a tough competition among girls. A report about the analysis was submitted by Vice-Chancellor P. Chandrasekhar to Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav. The analysis suggests that girl students secured more seats both in the convenor and management quotas, and those who did not secure seats in the MBBS course went for Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH) programmes. The officials felt the trend could be because girls begin preparing for the medical education examinations right from their school days. According to a release by the Health Department on Saturday, out of the total 1,519 BDS seats available in both government and private medical colleges, girls secured 1,157, with a percentage of 76.17. Girls secured 380 of 526 homoeopathy seats, which is 83.70% of the total. In the Ayurveda course, they secured 74 of the total 98 seats in the State. In the Unani branch, they secured 34 out of 42 seats and finally, in the MBBS course, they secured 60.72% of the total seats. According to the press note, a similar trend was seen in the admissions in the 2024-25 academic year. The girls are leading in the PG admissions too, which are under way in the State.
