Shaikmohideen The voters in Tamil Nadu should gift an agonising defeat to the BJP, which has always hated Tamil, Tamils, and Tamil Nadu and hence, has refused to release the State’s due share of Central funds, DMK deputy general secretary and Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi has appealed. Canvassing votes for the DMK candidate for the Tirunelveli Assembly constituency, S. Subramanian, at Gangaikondan on Monday (April 13, 2026), Ms. Kanimozhi said the BJP-led Union government, which had nearly annihilated the rural employment guarantee scheme (MGNREGA) by drastically reducing the allocation of funds for the project – that ensured the livelihood of the rural poor – was also refusing to release ₹3,600 crore due to Tamil Nadu under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, which guaranteed the uninterrupted education of poor children, primarily from the rural areas.
