General Observers Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod and Anubha Shrivatsava and Expenditure Observers Narendra Aseri, Dheeraj Kumar Jaiswal and Vinod Kumar met the representatives of political parties along with District Collector R. Sukumar, Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli City, Deshmukh Shekhar Sanjay and Superintendent of Police V. Prassannakumar. While appealing to the participants to cooperate with the officials during electioneering and the conduct of the April 23 election in peaceful fashion, the Observers encouraged the political parties to contact them any time to clarify their doubts and for filing complaints, if any. The political parties should strictly follow the norms of the Election Commission for organising public meetings especially the meetings to be addressed by star campaigners and the party leaders by obtaining due permission from the official concerned before 48 hours of the event. The political parties can use the website https://suvidha.eci.gov.in for submitting their applications for organising public meetings and election rallies. “Moreover, the election campaign vehicles should get prior permission from the competent authorities. The election expenditure accounts should be periodically submitted as prescribed,” the Observers said. District Revenue Officer M. Durai, Corporation Commissioner Monika Rana, Sub-Collector, Cheranmahadevi Ayush Gupta and senior officials participated in the meeting. Dr. Hrishikesh and Ms. Anubha also inspected the vaults where the electronic voting machines to be used in the election have been kept and checked the CCTV cameras fitted there. They also checked the facilities created in some of the polling booths and reviewed the progress in the distribution of Form 12 D for senior citizens above the age of 85 and the physically challenged voters for postal ballots and the action taken on the complaints received so far.
