Giri Civil Supplies Director Nupur Ajay Kumar on Monday said the government is continuously monitoring the supply systems for gas, petrol and diesel to maintain sufficient stocks in the State. Addressing the media, Ms. Nupur Ajay Kumar said that although global conflicts have had some impact, necessary measures are in place to ensure an uninterrupted supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). She warned of strict action against any irregularities in the supply chain. The State’s refineries currently hold 14,000 metric tonnes of LPG against a daily consumption of around 4,000 metric tonnes. To meet demand, the daily supply has been increased to 4,100 metric tonnes. She said home delivery services are being prioritised so that consumers do not have to visit gas agencies. To prevent panic booking, the government has restricted the frequency of cylinder refills. Consumers in urban areas can book their next cylinder only after 25 days, while the limit is 45 days for rural areas. Enforcement has been stringent, with 1,075 cases registered and 4,377 cylinders seized since March 1. Press Information Bureau Director G. Suresh Kumar said the Central and State governments are working in coordination to manage the situation effectively and urged the public to refrain from panic buying.
