Chandrababu Naidu should hold a weekly review meeting on the growing traffic woes in Visakhapatnam city, which is among the fastest growing cities in Asia. Raising the issue in the A.P. Legislative Assembly on Thursday, Mr. Srinivasa Rao expressed concern, that once the Bhogapuram International Airport starts functioning from June 26, the traffic problems are bound to increase. Though the Metro Rail and Coastal corridor and flyovers are planned on the National Highway, there was no progress in their execution. He said that the roads in the city were widened three decades ago. During the same period, vehicular traffic has registered a five-fold increase. With the Google Data Centre, IT projects, tourism and other projects coming up in the city, an estimated 1 lakh employees are expected to come to the city. The vehicular traffic would register a proportionate growth in the next four to five years, and the situation would be beyond imagination.
