Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Rajahmundry Range, caught Gangavaram police station Sub-Inspector (SI) B. Venkatesh, and writer (constable) Chodi Verra Babu, of Polavaram district, while they were allegedly taking ₹15,000 as a bribe, late on Thursday (February 12, 2026) night. The SI and the station writer demanded bribe for releasing a person on station bail in a harassment case. The accused kept the mobile phone of the complainant with them when the latter expressed inability to give the money. Station writer Veera Babu was caught red-handed taking a bribe at the SI’s direction. The ACB officers are conducting searches at the police station and their houses on Friday (February 13) said. Both the accused would be produced in the Rajahmundry ACB Special Court, the investigation officers said.
