The corporators from Gajuwaka zone highlighted several issues during a review meeting organised by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) here on Tuesday (February 10, 2026). Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao, Deputy Mayor D. Govinda Raju attended the meeting, which was reviewed by Commissioner Ketan Garg and heads of all departments. The Deputy highlighted the need for water supply connections in Gangavaram fishing areas, development of Yarada Beach with electricity facilities, and road widening on BC Road due to heavy traffic. He also urged to develop Yarada Beach as a tourist spot. Similarly, the corporators also raised several issues, including the need for road widening in various wards, development of ponds, playgrounds, community halls, and crematorium. Highlighting the incidents of contamination of drinking water in a few areas, they sought steps to prevent such cases. A few corporators brought to light the issue of lack of water supply in hillock areas, the need for modernisation of drains and canals. Speaking about the sanitation issue, the corporators noted need for increasing the number of sanitation workers and garbage transport vehicles. They also urged to resolve issues related to the Gajuwaka dumping yard and pollution caused by Gangavaram Port. A.P. TDP president Palla Srinivasa Rao directed that the TIDCO houses be allotted and works in the tender stage be started on schedule, and that infrastructure works such as UGD, drinking water, street lighting, roads, drains, and retaining walls be taken up and completed promptly. GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg assured that all issues raised would be considered and directed officials to ensure that ongoing works are completed within stipulated timelines. The Commissioner further stated that drinking water supply, sanitation, electricity, roads, and drainage works in wards will be taken up on a priority basis. He also conducted a departmental review with officials from Revenue, Public Health, Engineering, UCD, Town Planning, and Horticulture, directing them to prepare special action plans for infrastructure development and resolution of public issues in all wards.
