From The Hindu Archives, March 6, 1926: Bats as preventive for Malaria

Dr. C.A.B Campbell, of Texas, has put forward the proposition that the bat is the natural and most effective enemy of mosquito and claims that by artificial means he can make conditions suitable for the breeding of bats on such a colossal scale that they would be able to reduce the numbers of mosquitos so greatly as to make them a negligible factor in the area in which the bats operate. 

Interviewed by ‘The Times of Ceylon’, regarding Dr. Campbell’s claims, Mr. H.F. Carter, the Ceylon Government Medical Entomologist was not at all sanguine as to the efficacy of this method of combating Malaria.
