London, April 1: Good news for Lancashire has been brought back by Mr. Himbury at the conclusion of his tour in India and Africa, for investigating cotton growing. He expressed the opinion that the time was approaching when the needs of Lancashire would be met from the Empire. He pays a tribute to the excellent progress of experimental plantation in the Punjab for cultivating improved varieties and is of opinion that the outlook in the Sudan is very bright. The present season’s crop is expected to be a record and he anticipates in the next three or four years, Sudan will produce a quarter million bales of Egyptian and American cotton.
