Four more village panchayats have been created in Tiruchi district.

Collector V. Saravanan said that final notification had been made in the district gazette, with some changes after suggestions received from the public, on the draft notification made on December 11.

Puthanatham in Manapparai panchayat union had been bifurcated into Puthanatham and Edayapatti panchayats; Krishnasamudram in Tiruverumbur panchayat union into Krishnasamudram and Semmangulam; Kannudayanpatti in Manapparai panchayat union into Kannudayanpatti and Muthapudayanpatti; and Inamkulathur in Manikandam panchayat union into Inamkulathur and Alampattipudur.

North Karuncholaipatti, Meyyampatti, Ovagoundampatti, Paraipatti, Pillamanaickenpatti, Puthanatham, South Karuncholaipatti, Puthanatham Colony and Kottatheru would be known as Puthanatham panchayat.

Chinnagoundampatti, Kambiliyampatti, Kanavaipatti, Gurumalaipatti, North Edayapatti, Poonaikalpatti, Pungurunipatti, Saralaipatti, Servaikaranpatti, Vellayagoundampatti and Edayapatti would be called Edapayapatti panchayat.

Gurumalai, Belpur, Ganesapuram, Keela Kumaresapuram, Thiruvengada Nagar, Thondamanpatti and Krishnasamudram would comprise Krishnasamudram panchayat.

Kannudayanpatti, Kallipatti, Kappampatti, Kattupatti, Kumarapatti, Madhampatti, Poovampatti, Sakkiyapatti, Uppiliyapatti, Besto Nagar, Lakshmipuram, Bharathiyar Nagar (North and South) and Andavarkoil would be called Kannudayanpatti panchayat

Anbumedu, Chathirapatti, K. Udayapatti, Manickampillai Chathiram, Muthapudayanpatti, Pachydayanpatti, Poosaripatti, Sengudi, Thottiyapatti, Poosaripatti Colony and Nehruji Nagar would constitute Muthapudayanpatti panchayat.

Alampattipudur, Chinnalampatti, Melur, Periyalampatti, Rajakattupatti and Sevakattupatti would form Alampattipudur panchayat.

Vellivadi, Samathuvapuram, Keelapatti, Inamkulathur and Thoppupatti would be called Inamkulathur panchayat.

With the creation of four more village panchayats, their total number in the district had risen to 408, Mr. Saravanan said.
