Four car passengers were killed in an early morning accident at Modern Bazaar near Nallalam in Kozhikode district on Saturday (February 28, 2026). The victims were identified as P. Dinil, Kaliparambu Ajeesh, Vimal Kumar and Shyamlal.

The car in which they were travelling in was colliding with a lorry. According to police sources, the accident took place when the four Kozhikode natives were returning to Ramanattukara after participating in a temple festival near Farook College.  

Another car passenger, M. Dijin, sustained grave injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode city. The driver of the lorry escaped with minor injuries.

Though the Fire and Rescue Services squad and a few local residents carried out rescue operations within a few minutes after the accident, two of the victims reportedly succumbed to injuries on the spot. Police sources said it was a head-on collision around 3 a.m. and the reasons could be ascertained only after examining the closed circuit television cameras from the area, they said.
