Four held with 6 kg of ganja

The Tirunelveli City Police have arrested four persons with 6 kg of ganja at two places.

When the Melapalayam police picked-up B. Mohammed Hussein, 27, of BSNL Nagar, K. Rajappa, 36, of Sivarajapuram and A. Mohammed Basha, 19, of Nehru Nagar, all under Melapalayam police station limits, on Friday during patrol even as they were standing near Kurichi Bridge in suspicious manner. When the police checked the bag they were carrying, they found 4.350 kg of ganja and arrested them.

In another incident, Palayamkottai police picked-up A. Shahul Hameed Basha, 33, of Aameenpuram in Melapalayam with 1.80 kg of ganja even as was roaming around near Nehru Auditorium on Friday.

Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli City, N. Manivannan has appealed to the public to alert the police about ganja or banned tobacco products through ‘Drug Free TN’ app without revealing their identity.
