A team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (North) Srikanth arrested four persons on the charge of drug peddling and seized 22.250 kg of cannabis worth ₹ 11.12 lakh from them on Saturday.

The police gave names of the accused as Kiran Baburam Jadhav, 27, of Jalgaon district in Maharashtra; Sameer Shah, 19, of Dewas district in Madhya Pradesh; M.H. Mayyadi, 48, of Hejamady village in Udupi district; and Ibrahim Khaleel, 47, of Kudroli in Mangaluru.

In a press note, the police said the accused were arrested from a place near Jokatte Cross where they were found selling cannabis. Jadhav and Shah had procured cannabis from drug peddlers in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Then they gave it to Mayyadi and Khaleel, who, in turn, sold cannabis in Udupi, Malpe, Karkala, Mulky, Surathkal, Panambur and a few other places in Mangaluru. The accused have been selling cannabis in Mangaluru and Udupi for several years. The police are searching for other persons associated with the arrested persons.

Apart from cannabis, the police seized six mobile phones and two scooters from the accused.

MDMA seized

The Urwa police on Friday, arrested Maneesh, 20, Shreejit Shetty, 24, and Vignesh Shetty, 23, and seized 16.52 grams of MDMA worth ₹1.65 lakh from them. The police said they were found selling MDMA in Kodikal.

The Bantwal Rural police on Thursday arrested Prashant alias Prasad, 30, of Meramagalu in Bantwal taluk, and seized 180 grams of cannabis. In a press note, the police said they were searching for Abdul Razak of Pallamajalu in Bantwal taluk, who has supplied cannabis to Prashant.
