Four police personnel attached to the Kuruppampady police station have been suspended pending inquiry for allegedly accepting bribes to help two accused in a cyber fraud case registered by the Gujarat police evade action. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) conducted a surprise raid at the Kuruppampady police station in connection with the incident on Thursday. VACB officials said the probe was at a preliminary stage and confirmed that the personnel involved were of the ranks of senior civil police officer and civil police officer. The matter is also being investigated by the Ernakulam Rural police. The suspended officers allegedly accepted bribes amounting to over ₹6 lakh from the two accused within their jurisdiction after police officers from Gujarat turned up with a warrant.
