The foundation stone for the World Trade Center (WTC) project to be implemented by the Brigade Group was laid on the Technopark Phase I campus here on Wednesday. As per the plan, the WTC which is being envisaged as a global business hub to attract more international investments, will have 20 floors in addition to the ground floor and four basements, said a press release. Seeram Sambasiva Rao, Special Secretary, Department of Electronics and IT, attended the ceremony and unveiled the plaque. Meanwhile, Technopark CEO Sandip Kumar inaugurated the Brigade Square, a 1.85 lakh sq. ft. IT building located near the Technopark’s Park Centre. Mr. Kumar said that the capital city has good connectivity and talent pool for companies to thrive. The Technopark offers opportunities with availability of land and space. Moreover, new IT Policy will outline the incentives for the industry. Land shortage issues in Infopark Kochi can be sorted out with changes in policy, he said. M.R. Jaishankar, Executive Chairperson, Brigade Enterprises Limited, said that the WTC will be an iconic building which will enhance Technopark’s ecosystem. The company is also planning to expand in Infopark Kochi by adding another tower to the existing WTC, which will make it to a total of one million sq. ft. of IT office space including the existing operational towers at WTC, Kochi, he said.
