Green Energy Forum, a registered society, on Thursday submitted a White Paper to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on integrating carbon emission reduction education into curriculum of schools, colleges, and vocational institutions across the State. Aligned with India’s commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070, the White Paper aims at empowering the youth with knowledge and skills to promote carbon neutrality as a societal mission. The Chief Minister released the ‘Handbook on Carbon Neutrality,’ prepared by the forum with support from IRE Ltd., Chavara. The handbook proposes establishing Green Energy Students’ Movement (GESM) in educational institutions to engage students in understanding and addressing carbon emissions through practical action. It presents compelling data on carbon emissions from food choices to home appliances and includes practical tips for carbon reduction. Green Energy Forum president P.O.J. Lebba and general secretary S. Ratnakumar were present on the occasion.
