In a strange case of alleged forgery, the Cyberabad police are turning tables on the complainant, having found evidence that the latter misled them. The Economic Offences Wing of the Cyberabad is planning to initiate penal proceedings against Bandi Rama Pradeep Reddy based on whose complaint a criminal case of forged signatures, fake documents and illegal share transfers was registered. In 2014, one Pavan Kumar Reddy founded M/s Nature Born Projects Private Limited company which was into consultation services relating to installation of renewable energy power plants. Nearly seven years later, Pradeep Reddy joined as director with nearly 33% stake. A year later, another person, Suneel Kumar, also joined as director. In 2024, the company entered into an agreement with M/s Serintica Renewables Inda Private Limited to set up a project in Andhra Pradesh. The next year, Serentica company transferred ₹ 44.63 crore to Nature Born company for the services availed. On November 24, 2015, the EOW registered a criminal case against two other directors of Nature Born company Pavan Kumar Reddy and Ravi Shankar Reddy, following a complaint from Pradeep Reddy that the duo transferred funds by presenting fabricated documents using forged signatures. “We issued notices to Pavan Kumar and Ravi Shankar to question them. Interestingly, they came back to us with reports from a private forensic experts of Truth Labs, maintaining that they did not indulge in any forgery,” EOW Deputy Commissioner of Police Muthyam Reddy said. According to the officer, Rama Pradeep Reddy voluntarily signed papers pertaining to share transfers of the company but eventually lodged the complaint. The DCP said that, since the report secured by the two “accused” was from Truth Labs (a private forensic laboratory), they had sent the documents in question to the Telangana State Forensic Science Laboratory for ascertaining facts. “The FSL also confirmed no documents were forged as alleged by Rama Pradeep Reddy. We filed a report in court for closure of case and planning to book a case against him for misleading the police,” Muthyam Reddy said. According to the EOW officials, instances of private company owners lodging false complaints were coming up now and then but the present case was a classic example of how attempt was made to abuse the process of law.
