Forensic experts and medical professionals have raised serious concerns regarding significant discrepancies in the post-mortem report of R. Akash Delison, a 26-year-old Scheduled Caste (SC) youth who allegedly died in police custody in Sivaganga district.

A forensic expert with Tamil Nadu government pointed out a major inconsistency between the initial Medico-Legal Case (MLC) and the final autopsy; while the treating doctor at Government Rajaji Hospital cited fat embolism – a life-threatening condition where bone marrow fat enters the bloodstream – as the cause of death, the autopsy report noted that the heart chambers contained only clotted blood with no mention of fat globules.

Further, while the term ‘fat’ was absent from the autopsy findings, the report described patchy subarachnoid hemorrhages and multiple petechial hemorrhages in the brain’s white matter.
