In the wake of the ‘suspected’ milk adulteration incident at Rajamahendravaram, officials from the Food Safety department conducted inspections of loose-milk retail vendors across the district on Wednesday.

As part of the drive, cow and buffalo milk samples being sold loose were collected from several retail shops in Akkayyapalem, Seethammadara, Shivajipalem and Rama Talkies. The officials led by district food safety officer, G.V. Appa Rao conducted on-the-spot testing using a lactometer to verify whether any water adulteration was done. Further, pH indicator papers were used to check the pH values of the milk samples to detect any abnormal variations.
