Food safety licence of a motel along Madurai–Tirunelveli national highway in Thulukkapatti has been suspended for the unhygienic condition of its kitchen. Acting on a tip-off, Virudhunagar district Food Safety Designated Officer, S. Mariappan, inspected the motel on Thursday and found that the motel did not have waste water management system and it was stagnant near the building. The ceiling of the kitchen was not cleared of cobwebs. Besides, the officials found 5 kg of mislabelled chips, 4 kg of cashew nuts and 1.5 kg of fennel seeds and seized them. This action was taken by the District Designated Officer. The District Designated Officer has also written to all transport corporations not to stop their buses at the particular motel.
