Photo credit: Special arrangement Five people were killed and several others injured after the car they were travelling in jumped a road divider and crashed head-on into a bus operated by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) near Nelamangala on Tumakuru Road around in the early hours of Sunday (February 15, 2026). The accident occurred near the Navayuga Toll flyover at around 12 a.m.. According to preliminary investigations, the car, allegedly speeding towards Bengaluru city, lost control near Jindal Hospital, jumped the divider and veered onto the opposite carriageway before colliding with the KSRTC bus head on. All five occupants of the car died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Durga Prasad (20), Keshav (19), Lalith (22), and Harshith (20), all residents of Doddaballapur. The identity of the fifth victim is yet to be officially confirmed. Due to the impact of the collision, the front portion of the bus was damaged and left a few passengers seated in the front rows with minor injuries. The bus driver and conductor also sustained minor injuries. However, all 42 passengers on board escaped with minor injuries. However the car was completely mangled in the collision. The bodies have been shifted to the Nelamangala Government Hospital for autopsy. While Harshith was a second-year B.Com student at a college in Rajanakunte, Lalith was working in a firm installing CCTV cameras, police said. The Madanayakanahalli Police registered a case for further investigation.
