The Intelligence and NTR Commissionerate police arrested five youths from different States and a minor was taken into custody, for alleged links with various terrorist groups.

The five accused were produced before a court in Vijayawada on Friday (March 27, 2026), while the minor would be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) soon, the police said.

The five arrested individuals were identified as Lucky Ahmed, a native of Delhi; Zeeshan from Rajasthan; Mir Asif Ali from West Bengal; Sharuk Khan and Shaik Fiaz Ur Rehman, natives of Maharashtra, said West Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) N.S.V.K. Durga Rao, who is investigating the case.

“The court gave judicial remand to all the five accused, and they would be sent to Rajahmundry Central Prison,” the ACP told The Hindu.

Earlier, the police had arrested five accused, including a woman, and they were sent to judicial custody. Based on specific intelligence information, the Two Town police of NTR Commissionerate registered a case against 13 persons on March 23, 2026, under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, IT Act and other charges for their alleged involvement in terror activities.

Of the total, seven accused were affiliated to Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and five affiliated to Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and they allegedly planned to participate in ‘Jihadi activities’ in the country, the investigation officers said.
