Fishermen association urges govt. to initiate action to release 12 arrested fishermen from Sri Lanka prison

Tamil Nadu Fishermen Federation (Tamil Nadu Meenavar Peravai) urged the Fisheries Department in Rameswaram here on Wednesday to initiate action to release the 12 Indian fishermen arrested by Sri Lankan Navy mid-sea on February 22.  

J. Princo Raymond, a functionary of the forum, said, 12 fishermen – Moses, Kerson, Clement, Kerson, Kapil Roger, Brisman, Anthony Ajith, Anthony Rio, Prince Rupert, Reagan, Anthony Roovistan and Jalson – who ventured into the sea on February 22, 2026 in a mechanised boat bearing number TN 10 MM 3026 were apprehended by the Sri Lankan Navy under charges of poaching in international waters.
